October 10, 2025 – The 2025 International Conference on Urban Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Remediation (UEPMR 2025) successfully concluded, bringing together experts and researchers from across the globe in a fully virtual format. Hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the conference served as a pivotal platform for sharing cutting-edge research and innovative solutions to urban environmental challenges.

The event was chaired by Ms. Fadillah binti Abdul Hamid of UTM and commenced with a warm welcome address by Professor Muhammad Zaly Shah. In his opening remarks, Prof. Shah highlighted UTM's commitment, alongside its partners, to uniting global experts for advancing knowledge in pollution monitoring and remediation.

The conference featured insightful keynote presentations from three distinguished scholars:

  • Professor Chenhui Liu from Hunan University, China, elaborated on "An Introduction to the Development of Electric Vehicles in China."

  • Associate Professor Foo Keng Yuen from Universiti Sains Malaysia provided an "Insight into the Practical Frameworks for the Sustainability of Urban Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Remediation under the UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks."

  • Assistant Professor Rajesh Kumar Sharma from Banaras Hindu University, India, discussed "Wastewater Use in Agriculture: Risk Assessment and Remediation Strategies."

A series of engaging oral and poster presentations further enriched the scientific discourse. Notable contributions included an oral presentation by Fan Yang from Shanghai Maritime University on electrode preparation for treating textile industry wastewater, and poster displays covering topics such as phthalate ester risk assessment in China and experimental lead remediation techniques.


UEPMR 2025 effectively facilitated meaningful academic exchange and collaboration, reinforcing the global commitment towards developing sustainable and resilient urban environments. The organizers extend their gratitude to all speakers, presenters, and participants for their valuable contributions to a productive and inspiring conference.
